SE Asia-Killing Fields

Today's excursion was a grim reminder of the consequences when psychopaths obtain power over a country. Under Pol Pot's rule of Cambodia between 1976 and 1979, 1.8 million people were slaughtered, a cleansing of
his potential dissidents.
Pol Pot was never brought to justice but died of a heart attack in the 1990's
in a compound protected by his military. The Movie "killing Fields" describes the horrendous events that nearly wiped out a generation of Cambodians who would be in their 60's and 70's.


The monster who joined Hitler, Stalin, Amin and other fanatics in history.


The site was discovered by farmers who returned home after the Vietnamese Army drove the Khmer Rouge from power.


This memorial contains the skulls of thousands who died here. A total of 388 additional killing fields were discovered throughout the country.
